The photo series consists of several self-portraits (taken with a self-timer) and deals with places from my childhood and the recontextualization of myself in these places that have lost all connection to the present. It is an attempt to restore a memory that will never succeed.
Proportions are distorted, the body seems out of place. The title "Wachtruimte" (Waiting Room) refers to my Dutch origins and the trip I made to the Netherlands for this photo project. In addition, the title suggests a constant waiting in a room that is not a place, which is also reflected in the photographs.
During my travels I visited important places with deepest memories, for example my elementary school and the prison where my grandfather worked. The self-portraits were shot on 35 mm slide film with an analog camera.
